SUMMER INTERNSHIPS
This Summer we’re expanding our intern program by inviting 3 individuals to build a parallel micro company within the Rusty Squid Studio:

each passionate about breaking free of their entrenched cultures and integrating their practice with the others.
We Are Offering
3 separate 0.6 posts (3 days/week equivalent) lasting 4 months. Positions start May 16th. This is an unpaid internship, however we will provide 1 on 1 mentoring, professional training, funding for materials and a full bursary to the 5 week intensive Rusty Squid 2016 Summer School worth £1400.

We Are Looking For

Working alongside the core Squid team you’ll witness how we harness and protect our creativity within tight budgets and deadlines and soak up the way we align our working practices to enable the work we do.
The Squid Studio is an incubation pool where we are constantly evolving, adapting and learning, you will get the chance to be a part of this unique stage of our development and grow along side us.
The Roles
The roles will primarily provide personal support to the core Rusty Squid team:

| Robert Stephenson | Lead Roboticist and Animatronics Designer |
You’ll each be assigned a mentor, meeting weekly to monitor your training and progress.
As an Artist, Engineer, and Designer you will form a micro company, in-effect mirroring the structure of Rusty Squid. You’ll receive a materials budget to work collectively on a project and be tasked with managing your time and budget professionally. You will be asked to follow our studios working practice of design reviews - prototype iteration - systems integration and field testing.
The Intern team will be invited to actively participate with the Squids mind storms, design reviews and R&D; and engage with internal platform development. You’ll sign a confidentiality agreement and have access to some of the bespoke technology and platforms were developing.
You Will Bring
A sense of play, willingness to engage with others and the ability to celebrate failure, be able to give and receive criticism, take direction and work independently. A hunger to learn new skills, work collectively, and share your knowledge will be welcome.
You will bring your own unique practice alongside an open passion for design, engineering and art. You will be unafraid of hard work and bring commitment - professionalism - inspiration and kindness.
Things can move quickly in our studio, so the work will be highly variable and unpredictable. You will bring a willingness to adapt, be open and flexible.
The roles will suit current students, recent graduates or similar individuals who are up for the challenge of accelerated learning and working in a tight team.
